“Be carful the environment you choose, for it will shape you. Be careful the friends you choose, for you will become like the. ” ~W. Clement Stone
Everything in our external environment has the power to affect our internal environment.
Where we hang out and who we spend our time with plays a much bigger role than simply filling up hours of the day. When we are in calm, nurturing and peaceful situations, our mental space reflects that. We are more at ease and serene and we can make decisions with more clarity and intention. On the other hand, if we are placing ourselves in a stressful, demanding conditions our mentality will emulate that as well. Start thinking about how different people and places make you feel. Take, for instance, your favorite coffee shop? How about your workplace? Your yoga studio? Your hour long commute down the highway? Your best friend? Your mother in law? Your significant other?
Your surroundings shape and affect your everyday life. Can you decipher the choices that bring you joy versus the decisions that cause more fear and anxiety. Next time you feel a strong shifts in moods, take a look around and notice how your personal environment is generating your internal responses. You might surprise yourself with how largely they influence one another.
